We are of the mind that Mr. Perry haaaates doing these kind of things. Amy thinks it's because he's an introvert, but I just think that standing in front of a camera talking to an annoying woman about horses, which is really his wife's forte, is not his cup of tea. He loves his horses, obviously, [and is cute as hell riding one of them. -A] but give the man a break..he's not a talker.

Our collective favorite moment was when Ms. Perry did that whole bit near the end about Mr. Perry being undomesticated and wild. I laughed and Amy snarfed her green tea [Very pretty of me. -A] and thought for one hilarious moment that Ms. Perry had said Mr. Perry was un-housebroken and, oh, the horror that ensued [their dry-cleaning bills would have been off the charts]. It was noted that, to us, Mr. Perry looked mortified, but not in an angry way. Can you imagine your significant other going on TV and saying you were wild and undomesticated and letting ALL those insinuations fly? Yeah. That's what we thought.

Nice interview, overall--lots about him and his grandkids and random shit you might not have known about the five of them [Amy says: Mr. Tyler has TURKEYS named Harley and Davidson? Where the fuck have I been?].

What we want to know, though, is why the following passage hasn't already hit the fan, as it were:

Q: How far are you into the latest record deal?

A We're out after the next record (which he says will come later this year). I don't know (what happens then), but if Aerosmith sold only 100,000 copies on the Internet, we'd make more than selling a million for a big label...no matter how you slice it, everybody's making more than the band.

Q: How different is it now, with corporate guys running labels instead of 30 years ago when maybe you had more music lovers running the labels?

A I don't know of anybody who's running a label who not looking at the final numbers, after the dollars they make. We're a band. We split a quarter.

Q: So are you saying (you'll record without a label)?

A I don't know. Maybe.

Some serious, serious inferences can be made from that bit--especially all this hooha over the rumors of this being their last tour. We here at Draw The Blog would love, love, L-O-V-E to see an independent release from the boys, but, while other bands are not Aerosmith, we're skeptical as to how far they could get without a major label behind them.

We'd also love to know who's in the running for picking them up, if they are indeed in the market for another label.

Ugh.

After several weeks of personal hell [throw in both of us having a death in our families, add a surprise surgery, and shake vigorously], Draw The Blog is back!

We're planning some more updates today and tommorow...and we are on the serious make for some tickets for Manchester, since we both missed the presale AND the regular sale date and the tickets available right now, well, suck. We prefer floor seats [Joe-side if you love us--we did center aisle last time and I owe Amy a Joe-side concert] and are willing to pay..

It's FRIDAY. Thank the deity of your choice because we've been sick all freaking week and I know I [Darla] am really tired of having my nose all red and yucky.

However, it is Friday, sick or not, so it's time for something nice to look at to make the work day fly...

He thinks he's a bad ass. We know better.

We need more diversity here on Draw The Blog. Where, besides Mr. Halfin's great site, can we find pictures of Mr. Whitford, Mr. Kramer, and Mr. Hamilton?

Women and Horses and...Abs?

So maybe it's the fever, but Amy and I have been chuckling over this for a little bit.

We get why Billie is on the cover [famous husband plus horses equals Women & Horses]. We can probably wrap our brains around 'A Mother's Gift: The Art of Leslie Harrison.' [horse art]

What in the hell does '7 Tips For Better Abs' have to do with horses, though? We're lost, but that's alright.

Amy says It's a nice picture of Joe, even if he's got the classic 'my-wife-is-pregnant' pose going on. Hey, it's Women & Horses..maybe she'll birth a pony? Okay, that was AWFUL. I clearly need more Tylenol.

Some cheese, perhaps, Mr. Perry?

So if you're an Aerosmith fan, you probably know that Mr. Perry is hawking his very own line of hot sauce, which is kinda cool. It's tasty stuff and we like it.

However. In the midst of our Robitussin-induced haze yesterday, we listened to Joe talk on WZLX. Christmas in VT and the Bullet Proof Vest Festival [aka that stupid Bat Mitzvah..thanks to Yardbird for the truthful and amusing moniker. --A]...and then he started talking about the hot sauce. Apparently the reason why no one has been able to buy any lately is because the bottle and label are being redesigned because Mr. Perry feels like people are buying them as souvenirs and are not acutally using them to cook with, given that he's signing a lot of them.

Holy hell, we're in the presence of pure, unadulterated genius.

What in the hell did he think was going to happen to them? Did he actually think he was selling hundred upon thousands of bottles because every single Aerosmith fan with a couple extra bucks in their pockets suddenly liked hot sauce? Is he part of this dimension? This is not brain surgery.

Of COURSE people are buying them because you've produced something they can feel close to you with. Of COURSE they're asking you to sign them, Mr. Perry. Of COURSE we/they/us/whatever will buy whatever the hell you slap your name on simply because it has your name on it. You stuck a freaking souvenir guitar pick on the bottle. Are you daft? Are you getting a cramp in your hand from trying to cram your John Hancock onto the label for all of us fans? We are simple folk. We like Aerosmith. You market, we buy.

You obviously are not hurting in the cash department or you wouldn't have really given much thought to WHY people are buying the pretty bottles. To us, it sounds kind of, dare we say, spoiled to mass-produce a product to sell to the general public and then complain when you don't think they're using it as intended. The line of sauce has been pulled for a re-design of the label and bottle to supposedly make it cheaper and so people won't buy it as a souvenir and have Mr. Perry sign it.

Yeah. Right.

Man. We like Aerosmith. We like them a lot, but, shit, sometimes they make us want to climb on our chairs and howl at the moon in frustration. We can't decide if they really don't see the reality of it all or if they're just accustomed to having things their way.

So now that we've had our Aerosmith fan cards revoked because we've dared to critique Joe Freakin' Perry, maybe we'll rat our hair and go find Winger or Iron Maiden or even gagMotley Crue.

We moseyed on over to Mr. Perry's hot sauce site and, lo and behold, the new bottle design has been revealed.

So understated and not at ALL flashy or capitalizing on the fact that Mr. Perry has produced this particular sauce. No, no one at ALL will ask him to sign the bottle.

And Draw The Blog will be co-headlining with Aerosmith next leg.

Mssrs. Tyler, Perry, Whitford, Hamilton, and Kramer; we are not freaking amused.

Mr. Perry apparently did a radio interview [audio, anyone?] and didn't mention it [but did mention a major shed tour--Tweeter Center, we've missed you!] so we're hoping that we won't be subjected to Vince Neil's greasy locks or Tommy Lee's awful ink and bloated self-importance.

Ugh. Amy and I are sick as hell, just like everyone else we know on the east coast. Send tissues, cough medicine, the calvary, or just tickets to warmer climates. Amy blames me and, well, I don't blame her as I thoroughly contaminated her apartment on Saturday when I brought her by a copy of an Aerobootleg I got.

Mr. Halfin was awful sweet and gave us a nice mention after we let him know we were using some of his pictures. He's got a new update up in his diary as well as a metric butt ton [we know] of new Aerosmith pictures up. Go give him some love and buy stuff from his store--he's got some fantastic postcards of some of his shots of Aerosmith. We want t-shirts. The picture to the right is one of his and isn't it fucking hoooot? Yeah, we think so, too.

Speaking of aging, interesting link slipped to us casting out the question of whether Mr. Tyler has had some work done on the face and making note of Mr. Tyler's slightly, um, feminine facial structure. They're focusing mostly on his nose and how it has/has not changed in the past bunch of years, but Amy noticed his eyes more and she wonders if he's had some work done there, versus his nose. Or it could be that he stopped using every chemical under the sun and it had an affect on his skin/face. We know jack shit about cosmetic surgery, 'cept that we'd both like some, I think. I truly hope Vince Neil is talking out of his ass [again] because we really don't want to have to pay to hear them and their crap or sit through them to get to Aerosmith. We both really enjoyed Lenny [I don't like his canned stuff, but he's GREAT live] and were happy to eat the price of tickets because of that, but, shit. We'll be mortgaging our mortal souls to go see'em if this proves to be true. I'd rather sit through almost anybody [Backstreet Boys anybody?] then deal with Motley Crue. Tommy Lee. Ugh.

Please, please say it ain't so. If they're worried about not selling out huge venues, play some non-huge ones...like the Orpheum [Paradise Rock Club, pretty please].

So there's this guy who works for Aerosmith as a tour manager who apparently everyone wants to get next to. He's got the sweetest job--he feeds us concert-goers and fans the info about what's happening on the road, etc, and thus gets major, major love from the female fans. We've seen it and watched it and been on the receiving end of his please-don't-make-a-scene-because-Mr.-Tyler-is-standing-two-feet-from-you look. Funny stuff.

Anyway, he just posted a new report from the road [see it here] and we need to give him some major love for the last two pictures:

We love this. A lot. Amy emailed it to me a few seconds ago with the subject 'No words can describe..' in her email. We are way too amused. The look on both Mr. Perry's and Mr. Whitford's respective faces scream 'I can't believe someone carved this out of ice' to us, as well as 'take the damn picture already'.

But, this picture. Oh my goodness, this picture. The caption rings so true, but my mother doesn't need the five copies--I do! Holy hell, they look niiiice. Anyone know if the actual photograph that's being take is around anywhere?

Friday Aerosmith Lust

So, it's Friday here in Draw The Blog land and our respective bosses are gone for the weekend and we're stuck at work. What's this mean? It means LOTS OF UPDATES!! We'll start with what will be [technology willing] a weekly feature--droolworthy Fridays here at Draw The Blog. If you have something droolworthy you want to see put up..by all means, send it our way!

Since I'm [Darla] the one who's writing this, I get to put up what I want to see first and that means some Mr. Tyler. Let's start with some tongue..

Every time I bring up this picture Amy rolls her eyes [Amy, editing because she has the POWER: She's got this as her screensaver at work and at home. It's her cellphone wall paper. I know the anatomy of Mr. Tyler's tongue better than my own.] She just has not seen the light and gets blinded by Mr. Perry's hair [and that's just the way I like it, thanks].

Mm, and this one, too. [He's going to sprain that thing or get a splinter or something if he's not careful.]

Amy says this is one of her favorite pictures of Mr. Perry ever, taken by the absolutely fabulous Mr. Halfin, who takes the most incredible pictures of, well, everyone. When Draw The Blog makes its millions, we're hiring him to do our centerfold shoot. Until then, we promise not to leer at his camera lens or spill beer on his shoes..

Another one Amy said I had to post for this Friday. [It's like the 70s are back with a fucking vengeance. I love this picture.] Once again, big shout-out to Mr. Halfin for taking such incredible pictures and putting them up for us to gaze at.

Rumor is, according to a poster [shout-out to Dr J Jones] on the Aeroforceone forums, Aerosmith will be playing a private party in Vegas on Monday.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall for THAT one. Think if we take up a collection, we could rent out the Paradise Rock Club for a night and do it like it used to be done? It could be a Draw The Blog charity event! I want a t-shirt..

Just as I was blotting the grease off my pizza at lunch [shut up, I know you do it, too], Amy emailed me a short blurb about Mr. Perry and his sauce from the current [January 2006] Boston Magazine:

The $10 Million Bat Mitzvah...and some fall-out.

I'm sure most Aerofans have heard about the big Bat Mitzvah that Mr. Tyler and Mr. Perry played at the Rainbow Room New York--a high-powered defense contractor laid out the bucks to have Mr. Tyler and Mr. Perry come and play for his 13-year-old daughter [can a thirteen year old appreciate Aerosmith?], among other notable names like Stevie Nicks, 50 Cent, and freaking Kenny G [one of these things does not belong..]. Mr. Tyler and Mr. Perry earned a cool two million to play some tunes and were flown the family's private jet to get there. Cool fucking beans, man. Where in the hell do I sign up to have a party thrown for me like that?

Anyways, the bigshot that put this party on is David H. Brooks whose name means absolutely nothing to the common person. When he's not inviting Aerosmith to come play for his daughter who wasn't even conceived when Aerosmith was the proverbial king of the world, he produces bullet-proof vests for soldiers in the US army. He signed a $100 million contract with the US government to produce these vests and, what do you know, over 5,000 of them were recalled because it was unclear WHETHER OR NOT THEY WOULD STOP BULLETS. Oy. Before this was announced, Mr. Brooks began dropping his stock shares like hot freaking potatos. Interesting, no? So, he's under investigation for stock fraud and for 'reporting and treatment of executive compensation'--meaning, how he got paid and what he did with the moolah. His biggest sell was right before the party where Mr. Tyler and Mr. Perry played. Again, interesting.

Amy brought up that she thought it was interesting that Aerosmith has tied itself to politics--especially questionable ones. Yes, they played the bighuge benefit after 9/11..but who didn't? Historically, Aerosmith has not commented on or aligned with politics or political parties and we thought it was interesting to note that they did here, whether they meant to or not.

Money is money, though, and, had we had the chance to attend, we sure as hell would've been there.

Back in the Saddle

Tonight kicks off the first show of the second leg of the Rockin' The Joint tour at the TD Waterhouse Center in Orlando. We'd love to go, but our delicate New England sensibilities just cannot take the humidity or the travel, nevermind that our wallets, credit cards, and bills are still screaming loudly from the last leg. It's both a happy and sad thing for us here at Draw The Blog that they're not coming to the Northeast on this leg; happy because we aren't spending money [though we are sitting on our hands and trying not to look towards Vegas too much--more on that later] and sad because, duh, no live Aerosmith. I hate it when the hometown band doesn't hit the hometown, but that's business and life and touring..

Speaking of Vegas, what a rip-off with the seating. The rumor is that the MGM bought all the floor seats for their special guests/patrons which means no floor seats for Joe Schmoe fan. This makes myself and my evil twin pretty freaking happy we AREN'T going because, well, we're concert snobs and we don't like nosebleeds..and we certainly don't like paying out the butt for seats that aren't even fabulous seats. Though, Aerosmith in Vegas is Aerosmith in Vegas and, really, were some tickets to fall in our laps, we wouldn't say no..

And since we're not currently attending anything on the second leg of RTJ, we'll be depending heavily on Aero24/7 for our fix of concert pictures and various and sundry listservs and messageboards for setlists, play-by-play, and all the war stories from the road.. If you'd like to send us news/pictures/love this leg, you know how to reach us, right? Right, I knew you did.

This is fairly old news, but a big high five to Mr. Perry for his Grammy nod. He's up for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for Mercy, off his self-titled solo release this year. We thoroughly enjoyed Joe Perry and I dutifully went along with Amy to see Mr. Perry live at Harper's Ferry and then again at that place in New York where I stood in line for-EVER waiting to pee [Amy just said it was Webster Hall]. Because, you know, you have to twist my arm really, really hard too see anything Aero live. Right. Amy is more the Perry fan, but I know she'd do the same for me if Mr. Tyler toured all on his lonesome... Official Grammy info can be found here, on the official Grammy site. Mr. Tyler [much to my personal...yeah] lends his voice to Carlos Santana's new album All That I Am on the muy fabulouso song 'Just Feel Better'. It makes me want to break out the JD and jave a drink...it makes Amy hate her ex even more. Different strokes, I suppose. You can see the video here, with a little bit of the begining cut off. It was taped here in Boston down on Landsdowne Street at either Avalon or Axis--Amy called me on my lunch break to tell me that Mr. Tyler was down there taping but, argh, work and bosses..can't go dashing off in the middle of the day for Aerosmith. Such is life. Interesting to note that, upon peeking at Mr. Santana's website, he has a fragrance out..check it out on Sephora here.

Aeroforceone, which deserves its own entry in the future, is also having their Second Annual Holiday Bonanza Contest, which involves doing something creative that involves both a winter holiday and Aerosmith. The prize is a new poster titled "In The Begining" which is a pictoral collage of early Aero pictures. Pretty hot. Neither of us would mind having that on our wall [or office cube--Amy says she'll put it up at her jobby job, coworkers be damned] but since there are two of us and our entry would only win one...someone is going to be ponying up the cash for that and for the new calendar, too. Same deal--early photographs of the 'Smith. I need one of those for my office. Got to keep track of, um, appointments and things. Yeah, that's what I'll say...yup yup.

Alright, I think that's it for now--Amy will be tinkering with the layout over the next several days and we're hoping to find someone who can help us with some graphics and the like.

We here at Draw The Blog are so freaking excited to get off the cyberground and into the blogosphere.

What is Draw The Blog? Draw The Blog is an Aerosmith blog that, internet willing and borrowing a line from Rolling Stone, will detail all the news that fits regarding Aerosmith and Aerosmith-related things.

Why did we start Draw The Blog? Simply, we're sick of looking everywhere from god on down for Aerosmith news, pictures, and tasty tidbits. We're lazy. We want it all in one place, so...Draw The Blog.

Who are we? Well, does that really matter? The short of it can be put as such: We're two friends who met over Aerosmith and a pack of Marlboros [you figure out how] and the rest is history. Collectively, we've been to just over 150 shows [and we know that's nothing for some of you crazy kids] and have collected enough frequent flyer miles and preferred guest points to set ourselves up nice and comfy in Vegas for a week [we're eyeing the next couple legs of the RTJ critically, guys...c'mon, hook us up!]. There are two of us, but you'll most likely only see one of us posting here [Darla], and one of us doing a lot of the behind the scenes legwork and tech stuff [Amy], but you'll be able to reach us both at DrawTheBlog@gmail.com. Send us some love [and news and dirt and pictures]! We both work for a living [no rock diva lives for us, sadly] and we're both lucky enough to live in Aerotown [Boston].
